Wee Dafty Dog Day – Here at Last!
Hurrah! Today is Wee Dafty Dog Day!
I bet you never thought the day would arrive, but at last, it’s finally here.
Perhaps you’re in the tiny, tiny, utterly small minority of people in the entire world who are wondering what in the world of heck is Wee Dafty Dog Day?
Well, let me tell you…
A Brief History of Wee Dafty Dog Day
Grandma was a proud Scot who kept her gorgeous Perthshire accent rolling despite moving down to England as a young mother.
As a child, whenever she’d arrive at our house, the first thing she’d say – every single time – would be, “And where’s that wee dafty dog the day?”
That would be Tipsy, our little Jack Russell. She used to wag herself in circles whenever Grandma arrived, happily bouncing off any piece of furniture within a one-meter stumble-zone.
She was named Tipsy by my little sister because of her apparent drunken gamblings when she got excited. Her rear end used to curl from one side to the other – out of control thanks to a tail-wagging speed that should have seen her hovering.
Not the Only Wee Dafty Dog
I now know that every dog is either/sometimes/often/always (delete as appropriate) a wee dafty dog.
That’s why we need a Wee Dafty Dog Day to celebrate the daftness we all love so much.
Photos Please!
Just pop a photo in the comments below of your favourite wee dafty, and you’re in with a shout of winning a multipack of your dog’s favourite treats.
The competition ends Midnight Easter Monday, so get that photo in now and…
Let the daftery abound!
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.

Here my little dafty dog Charlie 💚
A foodie through and through, when not pretending to be a prawn 🍤 , Dakota is often found under the table asking “you gonna eat that?”…..
my boy Ralfie is good at being a dafty. Check out his facial expressions haha! He’s an 8 month old Staffy X American Bulldog, such a wee character 🙂
My dog Harley wears a muzzle on countryside walks in the spring early summer to protect the young wildlife that we often come across. Last summer he rolled in this field and when he stood up he had hay all over his face. I told him to stand still and I took the photo. He not only looked daft but was daft enough to stand quite still whilst I took the photo, I have added another photo so you can see what he normally looks like.
Here is my wee dafty dog Mysti who is now 16months old. I also have two other English Cocker Spaniels, Flossie who is nearly 14yrs old and Dinky, Flossie’s son who is 10yrs old. Flossie is a retired Therapy Dog who has worked alongside me in my Counselling practice for 10yrs so I needed somepup to take over the reigns from her – cue Mysti. However, what I hadn’t counted on was the ENORMITY of Mysti’s personality! She is without a doubt, pawsonality plus! She loves nothing more than to be a “Doofus” as I call her when she’s being daft which often involves being “chatted back to”! She is nuts about chasing the ball but can be just as much of a goofball without much assistance! I already love her so much and am so confident she’ll be an amazing Co-Therapist in my Counselling practice!
For some reason it wouldn’t attach my pictures to the original post so I’m adding them to the comments.
Here she is trying to “help” me change the bed!!!
Trying to sleep with such daft cuteness is not always easy!
She is already very “helpful” when shopping!!!
My Airedale Arwen is 5 months old and is as daft as a brush! She forgets she has giant paws to grow into and just falls over them…. a lot, and she also eats anything she can find even if it makes her incredible sick, like the entire block of Red Leicester (1kilo) and lay on her back for 2 hours just silent! But when the food comes out later she will try her luck again daft dog. She takes on creatures bigger than herself, and then realises she can’t win- unfazed she still continues to voice her opinions, and finally she does stick her daft noise where it doesn’t belong and sneezes ALOT!!
my daft dog Pickles the Pug is just over 8 weeks old and is already been doing very weird things (we’ve only had her for 3 days) we all love her so much though ❤️
This is my daft dog 3yrs old Cockapoo Olly, @thelifeofollyandpoppy
He is our Big Dafty Dog that we call ( Chewbacca from Star Wars, as he’s our big walking carpet🤫.) Loves to stick out tongue when we shout “Smile,” Enjoys his daily exercise😜. Here we go round the Mulberry Bush, yep Olly has to dive in 🤪
”Spiders,” No Olly isn’t scared at all🤔
Finally he sleeps, Oh forgot to mention drinking to much Pawsecco at one of his PawLadies Birthday Bashes at the Castle. (I think he had a Pawsome time!) 🥂🍾🍾
This is my daft dog 2yrs old Lhasabadass Poppy, @thelifeofollyandpoppy
She is such a Diva, Hates Mud, Doesn’t like Ewoks in Star Wars, Professional Stamp Licker, Does Karate in her Sleep, and refuses to wear any form of Swimming Hat. ( love her with every beat of my ♥️)
This is Brandy my loveable Yorkie, loves to cuddle and looks so cute when she is asleep.🐾🐾
This is my daft dog Nula @nula.the.sbtx she’s trying to get into her toy basket like she did when she was little 😝
Also enjoying the sun and having a nap while I try and work!
Here are my daft doggies buzz and woody
My ‘wee dafty dog’ Lola (lurcher x German Shepherd)
Here’s my wee dafty dog Beethoven 💙
Jinni (cocker spaniel ) and Jake (lurcher)
This is our wee dafty dog Arlo who wags his whole body when he is happy, loves tummy tickles and is so incredibly clumsy. He is such a softy that loves cuddles and doesn’t get bored of being carried around like a baby by the kids.
Wee dafty Hatty is 6 months old, she will sleep anywhere. Much to older sister Heidi’s embarrassment. They struggled to get on at first, now they don’t stop playing until they crash out, together.
This is Henry Jupiter , a new addition to the sausage pack . So far has a taste for your grain free poultry treats along side the duck nibbles . He’s currently pulling a wee daft face after encountering a carrot for the first time followed by his close up with the camera.
This is our wee dafty Ralphy. With a lovable nature, hes all bark and no bite. He loves bounce and bella grain free poultry treats and Loves to shred any cardboard he can get a hold of. Hes a very considerate pal who makes sure you only have odd socks and shoes by hiding or eating the other’s.
This is my wee dafty dog. Isla only arrived (from a rescue shelter in Spain) last Saturday but is already completely in charge (of the cats, the other dog and, most definitely, the humans). And she has the best bed head ever.
This is our wee dafty Oscar. The fussiest eater ever (he does however love your beef chews) but makes up for it with all his other quirky ways.
TESS THE ELTON JOHN FAN!
STOP LOOKING UP MY KILT
Cooper man flying through the air!
Merlin practicing with his hula hoop 🤣 – not sure he’s got the hang of it yet!
Albie showing off his teefs!
Alfie (2) and Amber (12)
Caught here having a break mid play 🙂
They are so special 💞
Merrie likes to wrap herself up in the curtains while I’m eating a meal.
I have three wee dafty dogs who bounce off the furniture when having a mad five minutes or if anyone dares enter their domain. They love everyone and will do anything to try and get a cuddle. I wouldn’t be without them. I love watching them chase each other around the garden. But they’ve only got to hear the sound of me picking up the container with their favourite B&B treats in to turn into little angels…
For some reason photos didn’t attach

Heres our Bedlington Terrier Woolie after a huge rolling session on the bed. He makes every day a joy!
This is Wilbur – he was playing so hard he just fell asleep on the spot.
This is our wee dafty dog Ben. Ben is nearly 5 years old but we’ve only had him for 2 years after we adopted him. Ben was aggressive, snappy and scared of everyone at first but with lots of love, attention and training he is now the friendliest, cuddliest and most lovable dog! He too runs himself in circles when my Perthshire Gran comes to visit! 😃
My little clown Rhoda (my support dog) she never fails to make me laugh. Particularly when she brings me things I have not asked for including an egg.
So this is our crazy daft Cockapoo Buddy. 22 months and his first introduction to snow January 2021. He had a ball!!!!! He is my complete world and gives us a reason to smile every day.. Happy Daftt Dog day everyone and to your pooches x
This is my crazy dog
Meet Buddy!
I was nagged to foster this beautiful boy in lockdown 1. He lasted 24 hours as a foster. He’s now mine!
I was struggling on my own in general and had been on medication for years due to mental health issues. Lockdown wasn’t helping
This daft sod has some into my life and turned it around. He’s the softest most loving thing and can’t get enough of being brushed.
Since having him last May, i’m now medication free and feel like a completely different human being. He’s brought me structure and a purpose.
This pic is one of favourites as he just seems to love me!
Betty the Frenchmen is definitely the definition of a dafty! She loves everyone and there is nothing she won’t do for a cuddle.
That’s Frenchie not Frenchman!🤣
This our not so wee dafty Dudley!!
Part GSD Part Horse – he still sqwashes into the smallest spots and thinks he is a pupper.
He is such a gangly goof ball and will do anything for bounce and bella treats!
This is our Dotty who lives up to her name! 17 weeks old and loving every new experience. This is her playing one of her favourite games “carrot in the box”. She’s so friendly and playful we don’t get far fast on a walk. She’s discovered streams now as well as puddles and mud so doesn’t always look this clean and tidy .
So many to choose from but this is one of Wynter’s most recent antics. She is such a silly little girl but I love her and she brings so much joy 🤣
I have so many, but these are my favourite ones.
This is Otis, he lives life to the full when he goes to the dog park. Says hello to every owner, plays with every dog and jumps in every puddle. If there’s a stream he’s in it. When he gets tired he belly flops into the mud and chills for a few seconds before firing off again. This man has no regrets in life and we love him.
Mogo “ My human is crazy… I’ve told her this is not the way the make a cake! “
It’s hard to choose just one but this is Arlo staring down a satsuma segment. It was a tough contest but Arlo eventually won after a good ten minutes of serious looking….
The wee dafty dog as a puppy, looking glam (photo by my elder daughter)
This is my little Boston Woohoo! There were so many daft pictures, I struggled to pick just one! This is a classic sleeping pose for her…. looks comfortable?!
Awww our wee dafty dog usually brings us a “present” and circles us in the morning until we sit down to play but he had an operation yesterday so instead today this should be captioned “I’m never drinking again” get well soon our little bertie 💚
